Friday, June 5, 2026, we are proud to celebrate National Doughnut Day by recognizing and thanking the first responders who serve our community with courage, compassion, and dedication every day.
National Doughnut Day traces its roots back to the First World War, when Salvation Army volunteers known as the "Doughnut Lassies" provided fresh doughnuts, comfort, and encouragement to soldiers serving overseas. More than a century later, that tradition of gratitude and service continues.
As part of our 140th Anniversary of Serving Leamington, members of The Salvation Army team will be visiting local first responders to express our appreciation and support, including:
During each visit, our team will deliver fresh doughnuts, offer words of encouragement, share a prayer of blessing, and personally thank these dedicated professionals for their service to our community.
We are especially grateful to Colasanti's Tropical Gardens for partnering with us by generously providing the fresh-baked doughnuts that will be shared during the visits. Their continued commitment to community involvement helps make initiatives like this possible.
For 140 years, The Salvation Army has been committed to Giving Hope Today throughout Leamington and the surrounding area. National Doughnut Day provides a meaningful opportunity to honour those who work tirelessly to keep our families, neighbours, and communities safe.
"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends." — John 15:13
We extend our sincere thanks to all first responders and community heroes for the vital role they play every day.
